About METROsquasH

Chicago’s Urban Squash and Education Program
www.metrosquash.org

METROsquash is an urban youth enrichment program that uses squash & wellness, academics, community service and mentoring to build confidence and capabilities among Chicago Public School students.  Founded in 2005, METROsquash has grown year over year and currently serves 130 students in 5th- 11th grade through after school and summer programming. METROsquash has plans to expand the program to serve 200 per year in grades 5 through 12.

Our core belief is that long-term commitment and a continuum of service from fifth grade through college is needed to impact positive change.  Students commit to ten hours per week of squash instruction, tutoring, and academic enrichment from the time they enter the program in middle school, until they graduate from high school.  Our primary goals are to help students gain access to high quality education and to prepare students for academic success in high school and college.  One of the ways we do this is by helping students and their parents navigate the complexity of the high school and college application processes.
